19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hard courts
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his initial championship for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.
The Russian, a ex- number one, has endured a torrid period, winning just one win at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.
His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in particular - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with long-term mentor Gilles Cervara.
Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested three-set win over opponent Moutet.
It is the player's initial trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface since that period of that year.
Victory also signifies the Russian has secured 21 victories at 21 different events.
"For the first time I have attended a competition with my both daughters at once, so to win a title is especially meaningful," said tennis professional Medvedev.
"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."
Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his past six title deciders, comprising in the German tournament previously this season.
His defensive approach and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted observers to doubt if his ability to play at the highest level was concluded.
Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and perform positively, backed up by an enhanced service.
He fought back from a break down in the first set against the challenging Moutet, winning 4 of the final five points to take the lead.
The pair swapped service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden tour title, seized the initiative to create a decider.
The opponent rescued 4 initial chances in a competitive deciding set before the champion won the break to 15 to close out the victory.
Suitably, the winner earned the title with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
